Context and Challenge
In the realities of modern warfare, medical facilities located near the front line are often destroyed, while evacuation routes remain under constant shelling. Mobile surgical units provide a solution that makes it possible to deliver urgent qualified medical care within 25–30 km of the front line, significantly increasing the chances of saving wounded people.
The project was launched in 2022 and implemented in close cooperation with medical professionals. During this time, the team studied the experience of NATO, Turkey, and the Baltic states, creating a product that meets all the challenges of modern warfare.
He added that such modules are precisely the type of solution currently needed by wounded Ukrainian defenders and civilians living in the difficult conditions of frontline territories.
We communicate extensively with servicemen about the needs and challenges faced by units in combat zones. Currently, one of the main problems is complicated logistics, which increases the evacuation time for the wounded. When every second counts, this becomes critically important. There is also a shortage of functioning stationary medical facilities, as many are destroyed by the enemy and some lack the necessary medical equipment. That is why it is important for medical units to be located as close as possible to the line of contact, remain mobile, and contain all the required equipment — and this is exactly where mobile stabilization points such as Keep Life become essential

With the support of our foundation, the Keep Life project team, together with the Borys Voznytskyi Charitable Foundation, has already presented six mobile stabilization and surgical modules. The production process also involved Support Action Ukraine Association, Schneider Electric, Blagula Bilen, the “Bridge of Kindness” charitable organization, Trans4UA, Extreme LTD, the “Diesel Fund” charitable organization, and Association Avenir Franco-Ukrainien.
The stabilization unit was created by Ukrainian manufacturers and represents a unique complex — a fully functional two-bed mobile operating room capable of operating autonomously in the most challenging conditions near the front line.
The complex is based on a 20-foot container that expands its area by 10 m² thanks to a sliding structure. This makes it possible to install two full surgical tables and perform two operations simultaneously. One such unit is capable of stabilizing up to 50 patients per day, including critically wounded individuals.
The module is fully autonomous: it is equipped with batteries, an inverter, a diesel generator, a 300-liter water tank, a boiler, heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems. In addition to medical equipment, the complex is supplied with a Starlink terminal, an electronic warfare system, and radio communication equipment.
The cost of creating one such complex amounts to 8–9 million UAH. This includes both the truck and the module itself, fully equipped with all the necessary technical and medical equipment. For comparison, the commercial cost of a similar project built “from scratch” would reach 20 million UAH, while European equivalents cost several times more.
We designed this module according to the ambulance principle — everything has its own place. It can be deployed within 15–20 minutes and immediately begin receiving patients, while 13 people can comfortably stay inside at the same time. We widened the container by 25 cm on each side, which allowed us to install a water tank, water supply and heating systems, as well as a cabinet with a built-in refrigerator for blood plasma and a safe for powerful medications

Each module became better than the previous one thanks to the advice of surgeons constantly working near the front line. Without the Medical Forces Command and practicing doctors, we would not have been able to create this product, which is now practically ideal. The project team also initiated and participated in the creation of technical documentation and regulations for such modules, which previously did not exist within the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Result and Impact
Statistics demonstrate the enormous importance of such mobile hospitals: within one year of operation, doctors working in these modules perform surgeries on thousands of people, saving the lives of both military personnel and civilians.
Ukrainian manufacturers have created a high-quality alternative that is five times cheaper than German or French models. Once again, I became convinced that we have incredibly talented people who, even in wartime conditions, mobilized their efforts and created something truly remarkable. This is critically important during the active phase of the war, and the state should pay attention to such developments
