Renovation of Sanitary Facilities at Berizky Art Lyceum

The Bereznivskyi Art Lyceum-Boarding School is home to 169 children, including orphans and those deprived of parental care. The institution is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for its students. However, the hygiene facilities were neglected and in disrepair. The lack of proper amenities caused constant discomfort and even posed health risks. The children particularly felt the absence of privacy and modern conveniences—simple yet essential elements that form the foundation of a dignified life.

The complete renovation and modernization of the boarding school’s sanitary facilities were carried out with the support of three partners: OpenDoorUkraine.nl (Netherlands), Support & Protection Center UA (Ukraine), and Anber (France).

Our shared goal went beyond mere reconstruction—it was to create an environment that ensures cleanliness, safety, privacy, and inclusion.

Special attention was given to:

• Acoustics and temperature control
• Ventilation and the elimination of unpleasant odors
• Comfortable use for children with special needs
• Discreet yet safe supervision

Thanks to the renovations, the children at the boarding school now have access to modern, comfortable toilets and showers. For many of them, this is the first time they have been able to use a proper shower — and the joy it brings is priceless.

For us at the Solidarity Charitable Foundation and our partners, this project is much more than just construction work. It is a contribution to the dignity and quality of life of children growing up in challenging circumstances, and a powerful message: they matter, and society is ready to care for their health, safety, and self-esteem.
